At Kronendal we believe that a consistent, but thorough school discipline policy is important for the well-being and security of the working environment of our children. Our focus is to engender life skills which promote a culture of tolerance, respect, courtesy and consideration for others. Our purpose is to assist the child to be able to function effectively in society, and to become adults who are law abiding, peace loving leaders in their spheres of influence.
Our discipline approach encourages children to respect and love themselves and others. With this foundation we encourage our children to respect the rights of others. The children are urged to behave in such a way that they enable each member of the school community to enjoy their right to a safe and happy educational environment.
Our discipline policy lists courses of action for infringements ranging from disruptive classroom behaviour, inappropriate dress code, to bullying and substance abuse. Consequences for bad behaviour range from asking for a suitable apology to requesting the Western Cape Education Department to remove the child from the school in order to protect the other children. Parents are asked to support teachers so that negative behaviour makes way for a culture of tolerance, courtesy and consideration for others.
