Kronendal Primary is a co-educational, government school with a rich heritage dating back to 1901. Today Kronendal has over 380 students, with an average class size of 28. Kronendal prides itself on providing a safe, happy and motivating environment which allows children to achieve their academic, sporting and creative potential and build friendships for life.
Kronendal is subject to the South African Schools Act. A Board of Governors, consisting of parent representatives as well as teaching and non-teaching staff, governs the school. Principal Nathan Levendal is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school in consultation with the leadership team.
Kronendal is well respected as a feeder school to many of Cape Town’s top high schools. Many learners have gone on to excel at secondary school due to the nourishing grounding they received at Kronendal Primary.

Kronendal has 15 classrooms, sports fields, a 25-metre swimming pool, courts for tennis and netball. The school has a large and well-managed library, a computer centre, an art room, a sugar-free/ healthy tuck-shop, a learner support centre, an aftercare facility and a large hall. We have large play areas for break time, and jungle gyms, swings and climbing apparatus for the little ones. We are currently upgrading our play space, one area at a time. We also pride ourselves on our ‘green’ programme which encourages and showcases sustainable environmental projects and grows organic vegetables.
